Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley

Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was spoken with by department officers about illegally importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medications via the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is important that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be harmful.

"These types of products being sold, typically online, have undergone no quality control and there can be no about their safety.

"You simply do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not know the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
